The BridgePointe Story
Having planted and pastored a church in Oklahoma, God put it on the heart of Pastor Chuck Angel to move to the Woodstock area and plant a simple, life-giving church. A church with a singular heart beat...connect people to God and to others in a passionate life of following Christ.
BridgePointe started meeting as a small group in Pastor Chuck's home in the Fall of 2003 and by the beginning months of 2004, the home group became a committed launch team of 24 adults. On Sunday, March 28, 2004 BridgePointe hosted its Grand Opening celebration at Woodstock Middle School with 200 people in attendance. Building on the opening momentum, the church continued to grow and in the Fall of 2005 BridgePointe added a second worship service to accommodate the attendance, which had increased to an average of over 500 people.
In its third year the weekly worship services were moved from the Woodstock Middle School cafeteria to the High School Performing Arts Auditorium. Attendance grew in this new environment to 850 people attending weekly services.
In 2007 the church established a permanent residence in the community by purchasing 15 acres of property just off I-575 on Woodstock Parkway. This incredible location will anchor BridgePointe in the center of a busy interchange of commercial and residential development. Also during the fourth year BridgePointe baptized over 200 people and the church's brand in the community became increasingly clear: a place that cares and reaches out to the disconnected.
As the church moves into 2008 and its fifth year of ministry, the leaders and members of BridgePointe have launched a bold financial initiative (Blessing For Life) to raise $3,000,000 to begin construction of Phase One of the church's campus development plan. This plan includes the construction of a Next Generation Building that is designed to capture the hearts of students and equip them to live a life devoted to Christ. This space will also enable the church to move its worship services and ministries to the Woodstock Parkway campus. A future Phase Two plan will be a separate building designed to expand worship capacity.
BridgePointe Church has experienced a blessed beginning. But the church realizes that God is strengthening this spiritual community for an even more amazing future! And even though the church now gathers with 1,000 people weekly, its heart and ministry remains simple and strategic...connecting people to go after God with great passion!
